S.S. Girls College Celebrates International Women’s Day 09/03/2026

International Women’s Day was celebrated at S.S. Girls College, Gondia, which is run by Gondia Education Society. The programme was organized under the guidance of the patron of Gondia Education Society, Hon. Praful Bhai Patel, the President Hon. Varshatai Patel, the Secretary Hon. Rajendra Jain, and the Director Hon. Nikhil Jain, and with the leadership and support of the Principal of the college, Hon. Dr. Sharda Mahajan.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an event titled “Jewellery Sales Market” was organized with the objective of empowering students, making them self-reliant and strong, helping them stand on their own feet, develop decision-making abilities, and prepare them for self-employment.

During the programme, an exhibition and sale of various types of jewellery made by the students was organized. Citizens of Gondia city were invited to encourage the students’ skills and to purchase the jewellery displayed by them.

The main objective of the programme was to motivate students to start new businesses in the market through innovative ideas, techniques, and products.

On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Hon. Dr. Sharda Mahajan, and Ms. Ashwini Tembhurnikar from BOI Star RSETI were felicitated by the college with mementos for their excellent work in their respective fields on the occasion of Women’s Day.

Addressing the participating students, the Principal explained how students can become self-reliant by turning their talents and skills into employment opportunities while working from home through new ideas, techniques, products, and innovative concepts.

She also spoke about how one can achieve success in life if they truly decide from the heart to do something new and meaningful.

Dr. Mahajan expressed her gratitude to the entire college family for honoring her.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Gokula Bhalerao and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Eshwari Khatwani.

The programme was successfully organized by the Head of the Department of Home Economics, Dr. G. A. Bhalerao, along with Dr. Khatwani, Dr. Madhuri Khobragade, Prof. Deepti Chute, Prof. Rashmi Randive, and the students.

Many students participated in the programme and benefited from it.
