
Under the aegis of Gondia Education Society, S.S. Girls College, Gondia, successfully organized “Gyanjyoti Parv” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.
The program was organized under the able guidance of the society’s patrons — respected Prabhulbhai Patel, President Vrushalatai Patel, Secretary Rajendraji Jain, and Director Nikhilji Jain — and under the dynamic leadership of the college Principal, Dr. Sharda Mahajan.
The main objective of the program was to instill the thoughts and ideals of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule in the lives of the students.
A series of events were organized from 8th April to 11th April 2026 to educate the girl students about the life, work, struggles, and philosophy of Jyotirao Phule.
On 8th April 2026, Dr. Gokula Bhalerao, Head of the Home Economics Department, delivered an enlightening session titled “Jyotiba Ki Pathshala”, in which she threw light on the life, contributions, and progressive thoughts of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and motivated the students.
On 10th April 2026, a General Knowledge Competition and an Essay Competition were organized to test the students’ knowledge about Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.

Prof. Sakhare and Prof. Suresh Patle served as judges for both competitions.
On 11th April 2026, the valedictory function was held, which included floral tributes, expression of thoughts, and prize distribution.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Principal Dr. Sharda Mahajan said:
“On this auspicious occasion of Jyotirao Phule’s birth anniversary, we remember his great ideals —
‘Education is Power’,
‘Equal Rights for All’, and
‘Rejection of Blind Faith and Superstition’.
This program is a small but sincere effort to carry forward these ideals. I am confident that all of you will imbibe these values in your lives and act according to his progressive thoughts.”
On this occasion, students Ku. Divya Meshram, Ku. Payal Talte, Ku. Meenakshi Meshram, along with Dr. Archana Jain, Prof. Sandeep Rahul, Dr. Sudhir Gautam, and Prof. Patle also expressed their thoughts on the life and work of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.
At the concluding ceremony, Principal Dr. Sharda Mahajan felicitated all the winning students by presenting them with prizes and certificates.
The program was compered by the organizer Dr. Gokula Bhalerao, while Prof. Deepti Brahmanakar proposed the vote of thanks.
The program was graced by the presence of Arts Faculty In-charge Dr. Jain, Home Science Faculty In-charge Dr. Khatwani, Dr. Narde, all teaching and non-teaching staff members, and a large number of students.
The successful organization of “Gyanjyoti Parv” was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Dr. G.A. Bhalerao (Head, Home Economics Department), Dr. Madhuri Khobragade, Prof. Deepti Chute, Prof. Rashmi Randive, Prof. Sandeep Rahul (Department of Political Science), and the active participation of the students.
